Taking a break in your career can feel scary, especially in tech. But for me, the break was a decision I made with a clear goal — to prepare for government exams and build a stable future.
🕰 Why I Took a Break
After completing my B.Tech in Computer Science, I set my sights on a secure government job. For several years, I dedicated myself to preparing for competitive exams. It was a phase of discipline, self-study, and perseverance — though I couldn’t crack the final round, I gained immense mental strength and focus during those years.
🚀 My Next Step After the Gap
Once I decided to return to my core field, I enrolled in a Full-Stack ASP.NET Developer course. It helped me refresh my coding skills and gain practical experience by working on real-world projects, including bug fixing and troubleshooting.
🌙 A Tough Decision
I got placed in a company after the course. However, I had to resign due to night shifts, which didn’t suit my family and parenting responsibilities. Though it was disappointing, it gave me clarity on what kind of work-life balance I truly needed.
🌼 Rebuilding with New Skills
I didn’t give up. I explored WordPress development, learned creative design, tried my hand at digital marketing, and even started building my personal website. I also got opportunities to teach AI and Digital skills at a government center, which reignited my confidence.

Even if your career path doesn’t go as planned, it’s never too late to start again. Use your break wisely, keep learning, and stay open to new opportunities. Career gaps don’t define you — your will to bounce back does.
